Jensen Hunt undertook a detailed survey and appraisal of the existing structure, setting out design loading parameters that informed the configuration of the final artwork. 

It took an onsite team of 56 people, 3000m of rope, 11,000m² of blue netting and a 6 day build to form ‘The Tube’ that visitors climbed through.

We worked closely with the Architects and Knight Dragon to achieve a creative structural solution. Reinforcement mesh was used to create a fixing grid supported on a grillage of scaffold tubes and trusses.

Individual bamboos of varied lengths were then suspended from this grid. This innovative solution provided flexibility in the bamboo fixing pattern and reduced the cost to the client by negating the requirement for proprietary rigging structure.

In keeping with the sustainable approach to the project, the structure can be dismantled and reused
in the future.
